The Brake Lights Wont Go Off in My 1993 Nissan Quest
A brake light switch, located on a bracket mounted directly in front of the brake pedal arm, controls your 1993 Nissan Quests brake lights. As the pedal arm pushes forward from the force of you stepping on the brakes, it depresses the switch and activates the brake lights. When the switch short circuits, it will either leave the lights always on or always off. In order to get the lights off, and return them to normal functionality, youll need to replace the faulty brake light switch. If you have mechanical aptitude and 25 minutes of time on your hands, you can fix this problem.

Open the Quests front door. Adjust the drivers seat as far back as it will go in order to provide yourself with sufficient room to access the under-dash area.
2Shine the work light in the drivers foot well so it illuminates the area at the top of the brake pedal arm. Retract the retaining tab on the brake light wiring pigtail with your thumb while gripping the pigtail with your foinger. Pull the pigtail off the brake light switch.
3Unbolt the faulty brake light switch from the mounting bracket using a box wrench. Discard the faulty brake light switch.
4Set the new brake light switch into the bracket. Bolt it in with the box wrench. Plug the wiring pigtail into the new brake light switch by hand.
5Depress the brake pedal and have your helper verify the brake lights work before driving your Nissan Quest.

Nissan Titan Headlight Aftermarket Running Light Installation
In 2004, Nissan introduced the Titan, a full-sized pickup truck available in the North American market. This truck comes standard with daytime running lights that are set low in the front bumper. If you want to install aftermarket lights either because the originals were damaged or you simply want to personalize your Titan, do not take it to a garage. This repair is easy to do at home making it the perfect do-it-yourself project for a Saturday afternoon.

Park your Nissan Titan on a flat level driveway or parking lot. Apply the parking brake and turn the engine off. Depending on how long the truck has been running, you may need to wait up to 30 minutes for the truck to cool.
2Slide under the front end and look directly behind the running light lens. Here you will find an access panel covering the inner workings of the running light assembly. Pry it off with a flathead screwdriver.
3Locate the wiring harness which connects the Titans electrical system to the running lights socket. Grab the harness by the plug end. Squeeze the two side tabs and pull to release the harness.
4Unscrew the three retaining bolts holding the light assembly to the Titans bumper. Use an adjustable wrench for this step. Place the bolts aside, but do not lose them as youll need them to secure the aftermarket running light.
5Slide the old light assembly out and then insert the aftermarket assembly. Secure it with the three retaining bolts. Plug the wire harness into the socket. Snap the access panel back in place. Then repeat this entire process for the remaining running light.

Nissan Xterra Oil Pump Installation
The Nissan Xterra is a compact sport utility vehicle intended for off-road use. Nissan began production of this product line in 2000, and the most recent generation of the Xterra includes 2005 and later models. The only engine available for the Nissan Xterra is a six-cylinder 4.0-liter engine, which has the oil pump on the front of the crankcase. You may need to replace the oil pump if your engine is showing unexpected wear, even though the oil is at its proper level.

Remove the cable on the negative battery terminal with a socket wrench so that you dont start the engine during the procedure. Place a container under the oil drain in the crankcase and open the oil drain. Allow the oil to drain into the container and replace the plug for the oil drain.
2Place a second container under the drain for the radiator and remove the drain plug for the radiator with a socket wrench. Wait for the coolant to drain into the container and replace the radiator drain plug.
3Remove the mounting bolts for the upper and lower oil pans with a socket wrench. Detach both oil pans from the crankcase.
4Disconnect the mounting bolts on the case for the front timing chain with a socket wrench. Remove the front timing chain.
5Remove the mounting bolts for the oil pump cover with a socket wrench and detach the oil pump cover. Disconnect the bolts for the oil pump and remove the oil pump.
6Install the new oil pump and fasten the mounting bolts with a socket wrench. Attach the oil pump cover. Connect the front timing chain and install the cover for the front timing chain.
7Add a layer of sealant to the mounting surfaces of the oil pans and install the oil pans. Allow the sealant to cure for 30 minutes before you add oil.
8Fill the crankcase with the proper amount of oil and coolant. Start the engine and check for oil and coolant leaks.

Nissan Altima Exhaust Hanger Installation
Exhaust hangers can vary depending on the year of the car. Make sure you purchase the right part for your year and model. To determine if your exhaust hangers need to be replaced, look to see if there are any cracks or tears in the rubber. Cracks and tears will allow the bracket attached to the muffler and muffler pipe to wobble back and forth. This can create additional noise from metal hitting metal and weaken your exhaust system due to excessive movement.

Place a car jack under the designated area where the manufacturer recommends lifting the car. You can find this in the owners manual generally located in the glove box. Jack the car to a level you feel comfortable with to be able to move around under the car.
2Place a jack stand under the frame of the car. Lower the jack so the car frame rests completely on the jack stand. If you need more than one jack stand, repeat Steps 1 and 2. Note: It is recommended to leave the jack in an area that will support the car (with little pressure on it) in case a jack stand gives way. By doing this, you will have extra protection keeping the car from crushing you.
3Place your choice of ground cover under the car so you are not working on a dirty floor.
4Position the exhaust hanger bolt hole to match the position of the bolt hole located on the frame of the car. Screw in the bolt and tighten until secure with either the correct size wrench or socket. Note: Depending on the year of the car, the exhaust hanger could have one or two bolts.
5Slide the support bracket attached to the muffler or muffler pipe into the exhaust hanger. Make sure the support bracket is secure in the exhaust hanger. Repeat this step for all exhaust hangers.
6Remove the ground cover. Repeat Step 1 by raising the car with the jack and then remove the jack stand. Lower the jack and remove so the car is now resting on the ground.

How to Change a Serpentine Belt on a Nissan 200Sx
The Nissan 200SX is one of the many editions of the Nissan Sentra that have evolved over the years. The Nissan 200SX utilizes the serpentine belt system to turn various components of the engine, such as the air conditioner and the water pump. Depending on the exact make and model of your 200SX, the number of components driven by the serpentine belt can change, but the overall removal and installation process is the same. Change the belt when it begins to fray and stretch to keep your vehicle running smoothly.

Park your Nissan 200SX in a flat, level area such as a garage, where you can keep your work area secure. Set the parking brake and allow the engine to cool. Release the catch for the hood and open it to expose the engine. Look for the serpentine belt configuration diagram on the shroud cover for the radiator or on the underside of the hood. Disconnect the negative battery lead with the adjustable wrench and set it aside.
2Locate the belt tensioner pulley referenced on the diagram under the water pump hose in most 200SX models (your particular year/model could have it placed differently -- use the diagram to find exactly where it is on your Nissan). Slot an appropriate socket over the end of the nut that protrudes from the side of the tensioner pulley and attach the ratchet to the socket. Turn the pulley in the direction indicated on the diagram to loosen the pulley. Remove the serpentine belt and allow the tensioner pulley to return to its original, closed position.
3Remove the belt from the other pulleys in the engine. Refer to the diagram chart to install a new belt. Start with the crankshaft pulley and attach the notched sections of the belt to the corresponding pulleys and match the smooth sides of the belt with the smooth pulleys. Work your way up to the tensioner pulley and use the ratchet to "open" the pulley. Slide the belt over the pulley and let it close again to tighten the belt.
4Start the engine of your Nissan 200SX. Let it run for several minutes and listen for sounds of the belt screeching or flopping. Allow the tensioner pulley four to five minutes to adjust the tension on the belt before driving.

2002 Nissan Quest Fluid Capacities
As the drive trains of new vehicles get more advanced and more vehicle-specific, the fluid capacities become more exact among vehicles. The Nissan Quest has four main fluid capacities: engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant and fuel .
Engine Oil
In earlier years, nearly all vehicles used 4.5 qts. of oil, but recently cars have used as few as 3 qts. and as many as 10 qts. of engine oil. The Nissan Quests 3.3-liter engine requires 4 qts. of oil, including the oil filter.
Transmission Fluid
The transmission fluid not only acts as a lubricant, but it also acts as a hydraulic fluid, so the exact amount must be used at all times to maintain pressure and lubrication. The transmission fluid capacity of the 2002 Quest is 9.9 qts., or 20 pts.
Coolant
The coolant is an interesting fluid as it requires a 50-50 mix of anti-freeze/coolant and plain water. The 2002 Quest requires 1 3/8 gallons of coolant combined with 1 3/8 gallons of water, equaling a total capacity of 2 3/4 gallons.
Fuel
With todays advanced fueling stations that automatically shut off when your tank is full, it is nearly impossible to overfill the fuel tank, but it is still relevant in some cases. The 2002 Nissan Quest has a 20-gallon fuel capacity.

Common Problems With the 1996 Nissan Maxima
The first Nissan Maxima was actually a top-trim Datsun 810; it reached U.S. shores in 1977. In 1981 the Maxima became its own model line; in 2010 the Maxima was in its seventh generation (eight if you include the Datsun 810 Maxima). The 96 Maxima, which has been known to have some common problems, is of the lines fourth generation.
Grinding Noise
Some 1996 Maxima owners reported a grinding in the rear brakes of their vehicles. Mechanics discovered that the parking brake kept pressure on the rear tires even after release. This required installation of new brake pads and a new brake cable.
Engine Knocking
There have been two causes identified from unusual engine noise in the 1996 Nissan Maxima. A reported "knocking" was found to be due to a defective on-board computer that had to be replaced. While a loose timing chain caused an unfamiliar "rattle." The timing chain fix required a new chain guide and tensioner.
Stalling Out
Corrosion on the cooling sensor of a 1996 Nissan Maxima has been found to be the cause of a stalling and hard-starting problem. This cooling sensor must be replaced to resolve the issue.
Poor Idle
Where electrical wires bend into the strut tower, mechanics have found broken wires that have caused failure in the starter and air conditioner. This hard bend of the wires into the strut tower has resulted in cut and broken wires in the 1996 Maxima.
