The Brake Lights Wont Go Off in My 1993 Nissan Quest
A brake light switch, located on a bracket mounted directly in front of the brake pedal arm, controls your 1993 Nissan Quests brake lights. As the pedal arm pushes forward from the force of you stepping on the brakes, it depresses the switch and activates the brake lights. When the switch short circuits, it will either leave the lights always on or always off. In order to get the lights off, and return them to normal functionality, youll need to replace the faulty brake light switch. If you have mechanical aptitude and 25 minutes of time on your hands, you can fix this problem.
Instructions
- 1
Open the Quests front door. Adjust the drivers seat as far back as it will go in order to provide yourself with sufficient room to access the under-dash area.
2Shine the work light in the drivers foot well so it illuminates the area at the top of the brake pedal arm. Retract the retaining tab on the brake light wiring pigtail with your thumb while gripping the pigtail with your foinger. Pull the pigtail off the brake light switch.
3Unbolt the faulty brake light switch from the mounting bracket using a box wrench. Discard the faulty brake light switch.
4Set the new brake light switch into the bracket. Bolt it in with the box wrench. Plug the wiring pigtail into the new brake light switch by hand.
5Depress the brake pedal and have your helper verify the brake lights work before driving your Nissan Quest.

My Mercedes E320 Wont Start Troubleshoot

The E320 is a four-door sedan made by Mercedes Benz. If you cant get your E320 to start, there are several things that you can do to troubleshoot the problem. Your issue could be occurring due to low fuel level, a bad alternator, or a low charge on your battery. Your E320 might have a dead battery, which would need to be replaced. You dont have to be a certified mechanic to get your E320 up and running. You can do it yourself with little knowledge of the subject.
Instructions
- 1
Insert your key into the E320s ignition and turn it. Listen for a "clicking" noise. If you hear the clicking noise, you will need to have the car towed to a garage to have the alternator replaced.
2Look at the fuel gauge while the key is in the ignition. Add gas to the car if needed and then try to start the E320.
3Open the E320s trunk and locate the battery. Make sure that the battery terminals are connected to the battery properly. You can tell this by the "+" and "-" signs on the terminals and the connecting wires.
4Connect jumper wires to the "+" and "-" terminals on your battery and then connect the other end of the jumper wires to a different car battery. Start the other car with the wires connected and then try to start your car.
5Leave the E320 running for about 15 minutes to allow the battery to charge. Turn the E320 off and wait for a couple of minutes. Start the E320 again. If the car will not start, you need to replace the battery.

1993 Cadillac DeVille Wont Shift Out of Park
The Cadillac DeVille is a top-selling luxury sedan, but like all cars, it may experience some common problems. One such problem is the gearshift getting stuck in "Park" because of a faulty part known as the "Brake Transmission Shift Interlock" or "Brake Shift Interlock Solenoid." This component tells the car that the brake is not engaged and it locks the shifter into place. One fix for the 1993 Cadillac DeVille is to manually manipulate the frozen solenoid to unlock it.
Instructions
- 1
Start the engine and let the 1993 DeVille warm up. On some GM cars, including the Cadillac line, once the engine has warmed up, the gearshift may be operable. Also, check to ensure the brake pedal is working by pressing down on it. If warming up the car doesnt resolve the problem, go on to the next step.
2Manually trip the brake shift interlock solenoid. Start the car. Lift the rubber panel cover under the ashtray and open the under-dash compartment door.
3Shine a flashlight into the under-dash compartment and look for an orange lever tab. Push orange lever tab toward the hood of the DeVille to override the automatic lock manually. Listen for a click that indicates the solenoid has been released.
4Depress the brake pedal again and attempt to shift the Cadillac into gear.

My 1999 GMC Suburban Wont Start

The GMC Suburban is a large SUV that many people use for towing boats or RVs. If you are having problems starting your Suburban, there are certain aspects of the SUV that you can look at before paying a mechanic to fix it. The battery and the fuel levels are the primary reasons that many Suburbans will not start. After checking the Suburbans fuel level and the battery, you may have to consult a mechanic regarding what is wrong with your SUV.
Instructions
- 1
Open the hood to the Suburban and look over the battery connections. These should not have any corrosion or debris on them.
2Remove the corrosion on your Suburban with soda and a wire brush.
3Put the terminals back onto the battery and then tighten them with a socket wrench.
4Try to restart the car.
5Jump start the Suburban with another car and jumper cables.
6Leave the car running for about 5 minutes and then turn it off.
7Try to restart the SUV. If the SUV does not restart, replace the battery.
8Check the fuel levels to the car. Add one gallon of gas to the car and then try to start it again. If the SUV starts, replace the gas gauge.

Mercedes Benz C230 Wont Start

The Mercedes C230 is a four-door sedan that requires gasoline and a good battery to start properly. The most common issue with a car not starting is either with the battery being dead or on a low charge, or the car doesnt have enough fuel to start. You dont have to be a certified Mercedes mechanic to get your C230 running again. You can troubleshoot the issues by checking the battery and the fuel levels yourself.
Instructions
- 1
Add 1 gallon of gas to your C230 and then turn the key in the ignition on and off a couple of times while you are pumping the C230s gas pedal. This will engage the cars fuel pump.
2Turn the ignition and listen for a clicking noise. Have a mechanic check the starter if you hear a clicking noise
3Turn the ignition over without starting the car. Check the electrical lights in your cars dashboard. If the lights do not come on or the lights are really dim, the battery needs to be charged or replaced.
4Jump start the C230 with another car and a pair of jumper cables. Allow the car to run for about 5 minutes and then turn it off. Try to restart the car. If the car will not turn back on, you need to replace the battery.

My 2002 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic Wont Start

Before you can start your 2002 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic you must have gasoline in your gas tank, the petcock must open, the ignition switch must be turned on and the engine run switch must be turned on. Your enrichener or choke should be fully open and your hand should be off the throttle. If the solenoid chatters when your try to start the bike, your battery is dead or your battery cables are corroded. Most other reasons why the motorcycle will not start can be evaluated or remedied by taking the following steps.
Instructions
- 1
Examine the spark plug wires and the connections between the plug wires, the spark plugs and the coil. If the plug wires are cracked, frayed or visibly corroded they must be replaced. If any connection is loose push it back together with your fingers.
2Remove the front and back spark plugs with a socket wrench and a spark plug socket. Remove each spark plug by turning it counterclockwise and look for visible signs of fouling. The electrodes should be light tan or gray and intact. Replace if fouled.
3Remove the plug wire leads from the coil electrodes. Look for corrosion on the coil electrodes. Remove any corrosion with a wire brush.
4Remove the seat bolt from the back of your seat. Pull the seat back off to access the battery. Your battery is dead if the solenoid chatters when you try to start the bike. If the battery is dead, then connect the positive and negative leads from a motorcycle battery charger to the same terminals on your battery.
5Charge the battery for four hours. Attempt to restart the Ultra Classic.
6Examine the battery terminals and cables for signs of corrosion. Remove any corrosion with a wire brush. Replace the battery if it will not charge or if a terminal is broken.
7Troubleshoot your carburetor. Remove the air cleaner cover by unscrewing the Allen bolt or bolts securing it to the air cleaner.
8Loosen the air cleaner by removing the three or four Torx bolts that secure the air cleaner to the backing plate. Hold the air cleaner in your less dominant hand while you disconnect the breather tubes from the top of the air cleaner with a box wrench.
9Remove the air cleaner backing plate. Examine both throttle cables. Ensure they are both attached to the throttle cam.
10Access the fuel air adjustment screw on the bottom of the carburetor. Gently turn the adjustment screw clockwise with a small, flat-head screwdriver until it is fully closed. Turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise 2-1/8 turns. Attempt to start the motorcycle again.
